Ex-AFN chief Phil Fontaine launches joint venture with Cronos Group to bring medical marijuana to First Nations reserves

Indigenous Roots, a partnership with Cronos Group, which owns two licensed cannabis producers, is led by Phil Fontaine, former National Chief of the Assembly of First Nations. It’s focused on indigenous ownership and operation as well as providing jobs.

MJardin Awarded Cultivation & Processing License from Health Canada for its Largest Facility

MJardin announced that the Company received a C$11 million payment towards the previously announced Letter of Intent (LOI) joint venture agreement with Peguis First Nation (51%) that will see Peguis purchase the existing land and buildings from MJardin and additionally fund the capital expenditures required to complete Phase 2 of the facility for approximately C$20.5 million. The joint venture agreement is expected to close in early 2020.

Meta Growth Announces $11 Million Loan Agreement and Deepens Relationship With Opaskwayak Cree Nation

National Access Cannabis Corp. d/b/a Meta Growth, Canada's largest publicly traded recreational cannabis retailer by revenue1, today announced that it has entered into a loan agreement with Opaskwayak Cree Nation ("OCN") in respect of an unsecured loan, pursuant to which OCN will lend up to $11,000,000 to META (the "Loan"). The Company plans to use the proceeds from the Loan to fund the build-out of its Ontario portfolio of cannabis retail locations as well as for working capital purposes.
